While we hope that it never happens, you might find yourself involved in a dispute with another member or client, which could delay your transaction. However, with the help of C.A.R.’s Ombudsman Hotline, a FREE member benefit from C.A.R., your transaction could be saved!
Grievances between REALTORS® can include claims of possible ethics violations and communication issues. These could include claims of misrepresentation, lying or failure to communicate. It might also include complaints surrounding cancellation of a contract, listing, or escrow. The Ombudsman’s role is primarily one of communication and conciliation, not adjudication. Keep in mind that Ombudsmen do not determine whether ethics violations have occurred. Instead, they anticipate, identify, and resolve misunderstandings and disagreements before matters ripen into more significant disputes. Please note that C.A.R. Ombudsmen are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice or answer legal questions.
They are available at (213) 739-7227 or ombudsman@car.org.
