C.A.R. was recently informed that a REALTOR® in Moreno Valley was physically assaulted during an open house. Luckily the REALTOR® was able to fend off the attacker when a family showed up to view the property. As a reminder, C.A.R. advises members to work in pairs during open houses and showings, whenever possible.

meeting clients and holding open houses.
NAR offers a REALTOR® Safety Program which aims to educate members about the potential dangers you face and to prepare you to stay safe and reduce risks:
1. Always meet new clients at the office or in a neutral location, like a coffee shop. |
5. Never go into attics, crawl spaces, or garages where you could be trapped. |
2. Share your schedule with a colleague, assistant, or family member. |
6. Check your cell phone battery and signal before heading to an appointment. |
3. Communicate safety concerns on your listing (poor cell phone signal, etc.). |
7. Direct clients to walk in front of you when touring a property, do not lead them. |
4. Do not overshare about your personal life. |
8. Do not host open houses alone. |
