Earlier this month, the C.A.R. Leadership-Team traveled to Washington D.C. to press California members of Congress and regulators on issues our members and their clients are facing in today’s real estate market. As California continues to recover from the impact of COVID, our housing market faces ever increasing unaffordability and hurdles to homeownership. We struggle with a legacy of discrimination that has created a homeownership and wealth gap. It is more important than ever that the voices of California’s REALTORS® be heard by lawmakers and regulators.
Joined by C.A.R.’s Federal Committee Leadership, C.A.R. spoke directly with over two dozen Congressional offices, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the FHA and the U.S. Treasury Department. Together they addresses such issues as first-time homebuyer assistance, SALT, the appraisal process, fees on California homebuyers in high-cost areas and new condo disclosure rules.
