Building Green From the Ground Up

SiGBA will host, “Building Green From the Ground Up” with speaker, Kevin Drake, a Senior Environmental Planner & Restoration Specialist with Integrated Environmental Restoration Services in Tahoe City on March 21st at Cottonwood Restaurant in Truckee.  Clean water, water-efficient landscaping and long-term site maintenance are all linked directly to soil and how it’s managed.  This talk will explore the soil and water elements of building “green” in the context of the unique climate, soils and building approaches in the Tahoe-Truckee region; outcomes and lessons learned from local examples of soil-based approaches to site prep, landscaping and storm water management; and offer specific recommendations to save money and achieve measurable environmental benefits.  This session will be highly interactive so bring your questions, ideas and join the conversation.  Doors open at 5p and a suggested donation of $5 is welcome.  For more information, visit the events calendar at www.sigba.org
